We unfortunately have a change of judge for our show on 7th May. Maxine Bevan-Jones was due to judge the Show Ponies, Show Hunter Ponies and Intermediates. She has a long awaited hip replacement brought forward and while in recovery can obviously not stand for long periods at the moment. She will hopefully judge for us at Ingliston in future years, and we hope she makes a quick and easy recovery and in the meantime look forward to her judging CHAPS and Veterans at our Summer Show at Brechin on 12 August.
We are very grateful to Mr Walter Bowie for stepping in to judge these classes for us. We will confirm very shortly who will judge the Partbred/Anglo and Purebred Arab classes.

A rather late report, but we are proud to announce that we have bred a Race Winner!!!
The Tiddly Tadpole, by Tipsy Creek and out of our broodmare Froglet won two hurdle races at Cartmel and Bangor during the summer National Hunt season. He quite clearly doesn't enjoy the softer ground but is a tough and consistant horse when the going is firm, a clear summer lover! What fun he has given his syndicate owners, 'The Frog Chorus' with runs every two weeks or so during the warmer part of the season.
We are very excited to see how he runs again in 2012 when the ground once again dries up and he can again hear his feet rattle! Good luck to his owners and his trainer Simon West.
Still on the racing theme, and again with Froglets family, her two half brothers; Harris Tweed and Beaten Up had absolutely stunning results in the 2011 Flat season with Harris Tweed running close seconds at both Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood as well as good wins, and Beaten Up winning all 3 of his starts including a Group 3 race to complete his first season.

The schedule and entry form are now available for download on the Shows page .... apologies for the delay ... where does the time go!! A tough winter and 5 Winter Shows to run, as well as bit of difficulty filling the last few judging appointments ... and then next thing you know it is only a few weeks to the show!
Anyhow, I hope it is worth the wait and that we will once again see some of you and your lovely horses and ponies at Ingliston for the early May Bank Holiday Monday. This year of course, this is also Royal Wedding weekend and we are sure that there will still be plenty of party spirit in the air!

Sadly, due to lying snow and more heavy snow forecast over the next 24 hours, the decision has been taken to cancel the Winter Worker Show at Balcormo for tomorrow (Sunday 13 March)
In the past we have continued in poor weather, and this is the first time we have ever cancelled a show and hope it will be the last.
Many thanks to all the judges, officials, stewards and competitors who were going to beat Balcormo tomorrow to support this show in whatever capacity and hope we will see some of you at Sandyflat next weekend for our final 'Flat' Show of the winter season, or at our Spring Show on 2nd May.

The Puddledub Winter Show series kicked off with a lovely little 'Worker' Show a the RDA Centre at Sandyflat, Glasgow.
A cold crisp morning morning greeted us to set up, and Jack Bishop built inviting courses for the Training classes and then the competitive classes to encourage ponies, horses and riders at the very beginning of the season.
After the poor weather of the early winter, it was wonderful to see so many riders keen to get back in the ring. As always the Clear Round Training classes proved very popular with those bonding a relationship with a new ride, and for the 'babies' perhaps attempting their first complete courses. Many ponies showed huge improvement over two or three rounds - proving the main purposes of these classes.
Classes were a nice size on the whole, although there were no entries in our new 'Lead Rein WHP' class, only one Cradle Stakes entry, and in the Mountain & Moorland classes no small height ponies at all .... maybe the younger children will come out to play once the weather warms up a bit! Maggie Inglis judged all the pony classes, and her Champion Mini WHP was Holly Sherrie with Brookhall Distant Storm, with Sarah Burkhill and Obblyonker in Reserve. As the 'plaited' workers were run as mixed height classes we held no Championship for them, but on reflection we will rectify this for next year. Champion M&M WHP was Becca Macmillan on her lovely new Section C pony; Coathendene Just Dylan who looks set to be big winning partnership. Reserve was the Connemara Grange Homeward Sparrow with Samantha Gemmell. Many thanks to Maggie for judging this complete section, particularly as her poor feet were frozen!
Event rider Louisa Milne Home rode all the horse entries beautifully over the three horse classes finding her Champion in the winner of the Novice class. Milo ridden by Layna Martin went better and better as the afternoon went on, and reversed the table on Midnight Magic and Marcia Carberry who had beaten Milo when they won a very nice Nursery Novice class. Thanks go to our judges; Maggie Inglis and Louisa Milne Home, Course Builder; Jack Bishop, steward: Nikki Gracie and help at the Secretary Office with rosettes and prizes; Jaki Brown. ... and of course, most importantly of all, to all competitors for once again supporting the Puddledub Shows.
Although the light was far from ideal, we did have a photographer at the show and shall post a link to her photographs when they become available.

Today we received the BVA Hip Score for Puddledub Vicunia (FT CH Leadburn Viceroy x Puddledub Wallaba x FT CH Rod Wallace of Leadburn). She was assessed as 4/4, hence retaining our Kennel Record of all homebred bitches hip scoring in single figures.

Like so many people, we had a very heavy snow fall, which started in late November and lay for the best part under after Christmas. The whole place looked wonderful and very pretty, but it did restrict activities somewhat and much of each day was restricted to basics chores of haying and watering as well as keeping 'paths' between stables, tack room, feed room, hay shed and much heap relatively free of snow.
Those horses that were living out were quite content with 2 ring feeders of haylage to keep their tummies full, and seemed to relish the lack of wind and rain and they looked great without clean limbs rather than the constant mud!
Here are a few pics

Meacham Temptation (Leila) delivered a jet black filly foal at 6.30am on Thursday 7th May. Another first foaler, she has taken to motherhood like a duck to water! Mother and daughter are doing well and if we get a break in the weather will get out soon and pictures can be taken.
With only two mares due to foal this season we can now tidy away the camera and concentrate on covering duties.

Three mares were scanned by stud vet Matt Hanks tonight, and it was with great excitement that all three proved in foal. Two to Terry and one to McLaren. This is particularly special as 2 of the mares had been barren for the last one and two years, thus proving the fertility of our stallions and the efficacy of our stud practice.
All three mares will be scanned again in around 10 days time to confirm pregnancy and hopefully see a strong heartbeat.
